Need for Faculty Enrichment

The recognition of competing world views in the university set up motivated us to think of Faculty Enrichment Programmes for those teaching both in Christian and secular universities in the African regions. This does not exclude theological institutions.

We are facilitating each region to organise their own FEPs as they assess their need. From here we are going to encourage inter-regional exchanges and discussions on the same to forge what may be Africaís way forward in the area. For our present purpose we intend explain the nature of world views, underscore the competing world views in the university, establish the biblical world view and demonstrate how this concept can support constructive teaching in the university classroom.

East and Southern Africa Faculty Enrichment

Plans are underway to establish faculty enrichments in both East and Southern Africa regions. A proposal for this has been sent to an interim committee in Lusaka, Zambia and some discussions have also began for East Africa. You will get much through our fortnight updates through email.

Fortnightly Updates and News Briefs

CPCHEA has embarked on fortnightly updates to members. These updates are not limited to African members only, a wider group of people get this update to broaden our scope, only on certain local needs will the updates be limited to African members. We have also added regular news briefs using what is called "RSS". With this facility any one anywhere can "subscriibe" (the service is free) and will then automatically receive news updates. This means that whatever we advertise is accessed across the globe.

Partnership with Christian Higher Education Journal

CPCHEA has entered into a partnership with this evangelical journal which is non-denominational and non-faith tradition.

This journal is currently sponsored by Texas A&M University in the United States and CPCHEA has accepted an offer to co-sponsor it. This does not involve economic support because the journal’s publisher in England, Taylor & Francis, supports the journal 100% financially.

In this partnership, CPCHEA through its Director (or a person recommended by CPCHEA’s Governing Council) serves on the journal’s editorial board. The masthead of the CHE journal in future will read "Co-sponsored by CPCHEA."

Through this partnership CHE will be an automatic publisher of papers accepted by CPCHEA provided they have to do with Christian Higher Education and conform to CHE requirements.

However, this partnership does not entail discontinuation of the online African Journal for Transformational Scholarship (AJTS) sponsored by CPCHEA but a reciprocal support of it by CHE Journal ( by way of promotion). AJTS is also peer reviewed and welcomes international contributions but requires that contributions have an African focus (see attached principles of AJTS). It is published as a digital edition and available without cost for African subscribers.

In view of the cost of printed journals for many in Africa, by mutual consent between CPCHEA and CHE on a case by case basis, the same article may be published in both journals with the proviso that access to the AJTS version of this article is restricted to Africa.

Through this partnership, CPCHEA commits itself to promote the CHE endeavours through all its relevant mechanisms and expects CHE to do likewise.

This partnership is built on the strength of union in Christ in Christian Higher Education which also echoes the Unity in the Trinity.

Call for Papers

We are soliciting papers to feature both in African Journal of Transformational Scholarship (AJTS) and Christian Higher Education Journal (CHE). The relevant editorial policies are:

AJTS Editorial Policy

The African Journal for Transformational Scholarship is a peer reviewed journal that aims to encourage high quality academic research focused on issues relevant to the contemporary African situation. While it especially aims to encourage African academic endeavour, it welcomes contributions from anywhere in the world. All contributions are expected to meet the following criteria:

1. An acceptable academic standard. As well as providing a forum for experienced academics, the journal also wishes to encourage novices to publish their work and will assist, if necessary, in ensuring an acceptable academic standard for contributions that show promise.

2. Relevance to contemporary issues. While the primary focus is on issues in the African situation, the globalisation of human life means that these are commonly linked to global issues. For this reason, the acceptance of a contribution does not necessarily depend on its showing a close knowledge of the African situation.

3. Insights that are grounded in the Gospel. This does not mean that they must be theological in nature—though theological contributions are welcome. What is expected is evidence of an engagement with the issue that maintains the integrity of the relevant discipline, get other details from: http://cpchea.org/ajts/

Christian Higher Education Editorial Policy

Christian Higher Education (CHE), a quarterly of research and practice, is a peer reviewed, international archival forum which publishes papers from practitioners and scholars in all academic disciplines and professions. CHE is currently soliciting papers about developments being innovated and tested by those engaged in the study and practice of Christian higher education. The journal publishes essays which explore problems and discuss issues in depth. Innovative projects reported are at the cutting edge of progress and provide insights into ways and means of improving the modern practice of Christian higher education. Research papers published in the journal are clearly rooted in solid analytical methodologies, whether quantitative or qualitative. All materials published in CHE serve as original contributions to the growing literature in the burgeoning field of Christian higher education. Christian Higher Education is commercially published by Taylor & Francis, Publishers in London, England and is not affiliated with any church, religious association, or denomination.

Timely reviews of subjects and books of interest to faculty, administrators, counselors, researchers, curriculum developers, scholars, and others will be considered for publication. All papers, including figures, tables, and references, must conform to the specifications contained in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (5th ed., 2000). Papers that do not adhere to this style will be returned. All papers should contain an abstract (on a separate page) which does not exceed 250 words.
