If you are enrolling as a new member, please read carefully
the membership conditions and categories detailed below

You can pay by credit card using the online payment facility (the quickest and cheapest option and is a secure facility that protects all information you enter).

By using this facility we avoid the prohibitve bank charges that would wipe out the value of payments sent directly to the Secretariat.

Those unable to use this facility may transmit fees using Western Union payable at Kitale post office, or, if in Kenya, may send by cheque of Ksh 2000. If none of these options is possible, complete the mail application form and send it explaining the nature of your problem and, wherever possible you will be provided with an alternative optsion, Do this also if you are unable to pay the full amount of the membership dues.

While membership dues are an important source of income to enable us to provide the desired service, we do not want anyone to be excluding because of inability to pay.

Because it serves to many countries with so many currencies CPCHEA membership fees are set in US dollars as the best known internationally accepted currency. However, in order to provide the most cost effective and efficient online payment service, all payments will be processed at the equivalent rate in Australian dollars at the exchange rate prevailing at the time of processing.

Membership Conditions and Categories

Membership dues have been set at a modest level in order not to exclude any who may be interested in joining. It is hoped that some who are able to do so will voluntarily contribute more than the set membership dues.

There are two categories of membership:

1. Ordinary members are individuals, institutions and organisations who, in one way or another, are involved as Christians in higher education within Africa on a regular basis. This includes individuals working in public universities and higher education institutions as well as those working in Christian institutions. All ordinary members are required to demonstrate agreement, both verbally and in practice, with the statement of faith of the Centre which is as follows:

There is one God in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ, the incarnate Son of God, is the only Saviour and Lord who, by his death and resurrection reconciled all things in heaven and on earth.

Salvation is by grace alone through faith resulting in a way of life that pleases God.

The world of our experience is the creation of God in Christ that everywhere reveals God the Creator and Redeemer.

In the context of this God-revealing creation, the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are given to us as the written Word of God, the authoritative witness to Christ the living Word through which the Holy Spirit guides us in the way of righteousness.

All ordinary members are eligible to vote at general meetings including the election of the Council of the Centre. They also have access to special member services as detailed on the member services page.

Two rates of membership dues have been set for ordinary members -- one for individuals and another for institutions and organisations.

Individual members: US$25 per year.

Institutional members: US$50 per year minimum. Larger institutions are asked to pay more as a means of supporting the community of Christian higher education in Africa. Since the income of Christian institutions in Africa is not always linked to the size of their enrolment, we leave the exact amount to the prayerful discretion of each institution. The budget is published annually with the amount for the current year set at Ksh294,000 which is approximately US$3,9200. (With the exchange rate of the Kenya shilling being set by the market, the rate fluctuates)

2. Associate members are persons, institutions and organisations who support the purpose of the Centre but are either not qualified or do not wish to become ordinary members. They are kept informed of the activities of the Centre in the same way as ordinary members, including access to Council minutes, but do not have a vote in the governance of the Centre. There are no fixed membership dues for associate members but they are expected to make an annual contribution of at least US$20 or more.
